The intention of this thesis is to explore ways in which the emphasis placed on hyper-realistic depictions of reality influence the architects true understanding of the built reality in which he or she lives. The architecture, as representation, will serve as the vehicle in questioning the role of the pencil in architectural representation. Located in Rock Creek National Park, Washington, Dc, a point of entry will serve as the threshold between two different enviornments; an area of commercial expansion, and a 1,700 acre Nationl Park.
