How can architecture enhance the occupants mental health, and inner tranquility? The typology is a Extended Stay Rehabilitation Center for people with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTDS). Through architecture it is possible to have a building that has a positive affect on one’s mental health and inner tranquility. The project is located on the shore of Lake Superior in the township of Beaver Bay, MN in norther Minnesota. Mental health has many different aspects that can contribute to the illness anywhere from anger management, reliance, and self esteem (Mayo Clinic Staff, 2012). As the world's population grows there is a need for architecture that will not have a negative affect on the occupants.
