dc.description.abstract | This project is titled “Architecture and Eros: the hunt for fulfillment.” It observes how Architecture may work to address our inherent human desire for completeness. The project proposes a design for a hunting lodge, roughly 296,000 square feet, near Glenwood Minnesota. Through the ritual-like qualities of an ancient tradition, the hunt, it looks to open a space of interpretation which engages larger cultural issues. In doing so, the design attempts to transform its audience into a community of participants rather than spectators. It examines the importance of a symbolic and poetic experience and the necessary interpretive distance evoked by these experiences, for sustaining our very valuable human culture. | en_US |
