The Hierarchy of innovation

Abstract
Currently we have the opportunity to use architecture as a vehicle for innovation. The thesis title “The Hierarchy of Innovation” is an analogy and in this case relates to “a hierarchy of needs” for the current society. This pertains to the perception of senses, self actualization, motivation, neuro science and education. The research will analyze the history of innovation, social interactive and collaborative learning, and past educational concepts that inspire spontaneity. This will eventually lead to a series of diagrams and ultimately the creation of a series of spaces that encourage self organized learning enviornments.The project typology is a hybrid of multiple building typologies. I will go into more detail with this later, but to touch on briefly. Conceptually this thesis derives its idea from an open source collaborative learning enviornment. Three building typologies will be analyzed , a library, a school, and a museum. With a program of approximately 80,000 sq ft. the building will be integrated into a site situated in northern San Francisco, within the Russian Hill neighborhood. With the combination of its diverse socio economic class and the idea that Silicon Valley is on the world's stage, San Francisco revealed itself as the ideal city to implement such an innovative, public, educational and interactive architecure.
