Abstract
As the human population
increases and expands from growing urban
environments, many pressures are imposed
on the undeveloped natural wetlands.
Traditional practices of land development
produce high amounts of risk for the natural
environment by creating large regions of
impervious areas, hence devastating and
destroying the hydrology, infiltration rates, and
buffer zones of these specific ecosystems. The
enormous amount of polluted runoff built
environments produce is increasing erosion,
vegetation disruption, and the introduction of
toxic materials into wetlands, thus changing
the water quality, the health, and hydrology of
the site.
