dc.descriptionThis collection consists of information on townships, the histories of German’s from Russia people, newspapers, biographies, and music. This collection has enabled research to be done on various families and towns of the German-Russian peoples, including colonies, information on the Government of Russia and Germany. There is research done on farming communities, and churches, with guides to books, inventories of websites, photograph collections, and German newspapers. There are many books in the German language that reference the history of the Germans from Russia group, and their time in Russia. There are also many personal descriptions of peoples stories immigrating from Germany to Russia, then in some cases back to Germany then to the United States, the stories describe the conditions they faced and the hardships gone through to obtain a better life. Odessa Kalender Series constists of German text and news. Including material from Peter Diehl starting in 1872 from his journeys and statistical surveys for the personnel in the Volost and the village administration. The survey is updated every year in the Odessa Kalender, becoming a regular feature.en_US
