| dc.description.abstract | Common methods of education in the United States have proven to meet the basic needs of academics for students over the last several decades. Most students leave high school with most of the necessary tools to enter the working world or further their education if they wish. They are able to function as useful members of society, but not necessarily as better human beings. Many traverse their formative years without strengthening aspects of their character such as empathy, confidence, and emotional stability. These areas are not strengthened by math and science – but by the arts.
Placing greater emphasis on Arts and Literature when students are quite young presents them with the opportunity to explore previously untapped niches in their character and strengthen their overall persona. Using architecture as a medium through which to accomplish this goal will provide them with spaces that are specifically designed to strengthen their competency and interest in the arts and thus prepare them for the emotional and psychological challenges that they will face later in life. | en_US |
