Scope and Contents
The Fargo Water Treatment Plant Photograph Collection consists of images primarily from the period when the plant was first constructed in 1911 and 1912, although they do extend into the 1970s. Most of the images are of construction scenes of the treatment plant from initial construction to later additions; and also of the Fourth Street Dam. Pamphlets, articles, and newspaper clippings on the history of the Garrison project from the 1950s through the early 1970s. Includes mention of people, organizations, and places involved, including C.S.N.D., Inc. (Committee to Save North Dakota, Inc.) which opposed the project, Sivert Thompson, and the North Dakota Farmers Union. Also includes Canadian pamphlets raising concerns about the diversion project.

Abstract
Photocopy of typescript reminiscence by Mr. Engerud regarding growing up in Fargo, N.D. at the turn of the 20th century. He describes the town of Fargo, brother Karl, brother Louis and his Leghorn chickens, politics, assassination of President McKinley, and the Fargo water supply before the filtration plant in 1911. There is also a cover letter by Engerud to an Edith and Horace regarding his reminiscence. The letter is dated March 4, 1975.

Letters, typed copy of his family reminiscence entitled "Dakota days of years ago," (38 leaves) and a newspaper clipping. Reminiscence includes mention of his family homestead in Cavalier County, a blizzard, pioneer days near Pembina, N.D., people and equipment involved in threshing, digging water wells, Olga, Bathgate, Beaulieu, and Walhalla, N.D., country school, churches, hunting, horses and horse-drawn vehicles, and removing tree stumps.
