NP Avenue in 1909

This real photograph postcard from 1909 looks west on N.P. Avenue from 5th Street North.

Above is an enlargment of the right side of the same postcard showing the north side of N.P. Avenue. On the right (the northwest corner of 5th Street and N.P. Avenue) we see the Webster Hotel (at 503 N.P. Avenue), the Metropole Hotel with its twin spires, and the Merchants National Bank. Continuing west across Broadway, we see the Fargo National Bank, Fargo Mercantile Co., and City Hall in the far distance with its bell tower clearly visible. In the sky above we can see the many wires powering the Street Railway, with one streetcar approaching.

At left is and enlargement of the same 1909 postcard from above. It shows the south side of N.P. Avenue from 5th Street looking west. It is difficult to see the signs on the buildings from this angle, but we can see a garage, sign painting company, the Fargo Auto Tire Repair Co.,and the Union Light Co.

This 1909 postcard (which has been enlarged and cropped) looks east on N.P. Avenue from above Broadway. It appears to have been taken from atop the Edwards Building. On the north side of N.P. Avenue (moving left to right) we see the edge of the Merchants National Bank, the Metropole Hotel, and the Webster Hotel on the corner of 5th Street. On the east corner is Porritt's Plumbing and Heating Co. (with the awnings).
