On March 11, 2024, we celebrate the 121st birthday of bandleader Lawrence Welk. He was born March 11, 1903 in a sodhouse near Strasburg, ND, and died on May 17, 1992. The Lawrence Welk Collection was donated to the North Dakota State University Archives, Fargo.

On November 8, 1993, I interviewed Eva (Gross) Schatz at the Marillac Manor Retirement Center in Bismarck, ND. Eva was 89 at the time of the interview. She died on April 2, 2002.
