Abstract
This project explores the dynamics of streetscapes seeking to understand why some projects are successful and others are not. The location of the project is in Moorhead, Minnesota which is a border city to Fargo, North Dakota. This project recognizes four environments which influence the success of streetscapes: economic, political, social and the natural environments. These environments are dynamic, constantly changing; making it difficult to design a streetscape which will support the surrounding community in the best way possible. Instead of looking at a streetscape as a 20-30 year investment, what would a streetscape look like it if were meant to evolve over time? The Moorhead City Walk is a representation on how a streetscape may become a living entity, in that of the community- documenting the culture, art and history, all the while advancing the economic viability of surrounding development.
