Abstract
The collection was originally processed by Nicholas Miller and then completed by Katrina Burch. The collection contains materials related to John Schneider’s personal and professional life, as well as his work in politics. The collection was split into eight series.
Included in the first box are a tassel from 1975, two VHS tapes of his memorial service, and a published book on the North Dakota legislature.
Legal: This series deals with Schneider’s private practice, documents relating to his court cases, news clippings, correspondence, and other documents related to his work as U.S. Attorney.
Publications: This series contains items relating to personal publications, publications relating to politics, and newsletters
News clippings: This series contains news articles relating to Schneider’s legal practice, legislative career, higher education, and other various work.
University of North Dakota: Documents relating to UND such as a scholarship fund.
Military and Peace Corps: This series contains documents relating to Schneider’s time in the military and his work in the Peace Corps in Afghanistan.
Politics: This series, the largest in the collection, deals with Schneider’s political life. Documents related to local politics, North Dakota Democrats/Non-Partisan League, and the North Dakota state legislature are in this series.
Personal: This series include personal correspondence, personal documents such as address books, holiday cards, art, documents relating to Schneider’s family; documents relating to his resignation, and finally, documents relating to his death.
