Abstract
Consists primarily of two reminiscences written by Mr. Montgomery for his children and grandchildren in 1935. "A message to posterity, collections from 1882 to 1902" (17 typescript leaves) recounts traveling to Dakota Territory, homesteading near Sargent and Cogswell, N.D., Sargent County politics, and a detailed account of the attempt to legalize the Louisiana Lottery in North Dakota. "The childhood of parents" (71 typescript leaves) by Mr. and Mrs. Montgomery documents the life of their family in North Dakota, particularly of their children, moving to Wahpeton in 1894 and closing with their move to Edmonton. Other items include a tribute to R.S. Adams of Lisbon, N.D. (2 leaves), Mr. Montgomery's obituary and photocopies of family portraits.
