This collection focuses on the Agassiz Women’s Political Caucus. This group is a bipartisan women’s organization, devoted to women’s representation in the State and National public office. The organization helped to nominate the first woman vice presidential candidate in the nation’s history. The group committed itself to the Equal Rights Amendment, and governmental attention to child care. The group sought to get progressive women of both parties elected to public office at every level to place issues important to women on the public agenda. This included pay equality, pension and social security reforms, and adequate day care for children. In 1982, the Agassiz Women’s Political Caucus became active in sponsoring candidates’ workshops, and educating women candidates. The organization encourages all people to vote and become politically active.
