Abstract
The Homemakers’ Clubs started in North Dakota in the 1920’s through the North Dakota Agricultural College (now NDSU) Extension Service as a way to bring information on home economic issues to women throughout the state. The Cass County Thursday Homemaker Club officially started in 1955, when a group of women met to have coffee and decided to do something constructive. The club meets for education, entertainment, and socialization. The essence of the group is primarily education. The club has covered topics such as baking bread, sewing, health trends, and safety protocols. The club also engages in tours of business establishments and venues. Projects that the club has been involved in are the Easter Seals, the March of Dimes, and scholarship funds.
