dc.description.abstract | This thesis is an experiment, addressing the fundamental relationship that exists between people and the built environment. More specifically, this thesis seeks to understand the power of architecture as a means of social influence or change. To explore this relationship, a 77-unit retreat center, located in Western North Dakota was designed to promote an individual's level of understanding. Not even jail: a Center for the Achievement of Greater Understanding, is the existential vehicle in which I sought understanding of what it means design our environment. | en_US |
