NDSU Libraries Access to the The New York Times

The Times has returned to NDSU! With this subscription, you can enjoy unlimited access to industry-leading journalism, anywhere, on any device. The Libraries previously assisted in facilitating access to an online subscription that was generously provided by NDSU Student Government, in partnership with the Provost’s Office. When that subscription recently expired, librarians began to receive user requests to reinstate access. Without additional funding to do so, the Libraries carefully evaluated and reallocated funds from other resources in order to deliver on the user demand.

The benefits of NYT Online extend beyond that of a print subscription: in addition to the full-text of all printed articles, online access also includes images and interactive infographics that are not available in the print version, along with documentaries and podcasts. Users may also download the NYTimes app to view content. Digital access is available 24 hours a day from any location, on or off campus.

For access to The New York Times, go here. Previously registered users should be able to log in with their existing login information. First-time users will need to create an account with their NDSU email address.

Once registered, users will have 364 days of full account access, after which they must re-register their e-mail address.

NDSU’s Academic Site License also includes access to a resource website for educators, nytimes.com/edu, which provides discipline-specific areas of study, general instructional strategies to promote student achievement, and more. To gain entry to the Education site, new users can register at nytimesineducation.com/register, or existing users can log in with current account details if they are already registered at nytimes.com with a ndsu.edu e-mail address. 

The renewal of this subscription exemplifies the Libraries' efforts to support the HyFlex learning environment at NDSU during the COVID-19 pandemic.
