Student Employee Spotlights 2023

National Student Employment Week is April 9 - 15, 2023 – a time for colleges and universities across the country to recognize the importance of student employees. Student employment plays an important role in the higher education experience and we want to recognize our student employees who do outstanding work while attending NDSU. The Libraries have over 40 dedicated student employees that are vital to keeping operations running smoothly. Their friendly faces help make the Main Library and its branches enjoyable spaces with invaluable services that fellow students, faculty, staff, and the community appreciate.

We are putting the spotlight on four of our exceptional student assistants who are all graduates this academic year. They are greatly appreciated for their hard work, impact, and commitment at NDSU Libraries. Thank you for choosing us to be a part of your NDSU experience!

Book I would recommend: Contagious: Why Things Catch On by Jonah Berger

Favorite Quote: “When we care, we share” - Jonah Berger

What’s your favorite spot on campus and why? My favorite spot on campus is the study room in the Ceres Hall attic. There’s not a lot of people up there so sometimes you get the place to yourself. Trio also has a lot of resources up there which I like.

What do you like to do in your free time? I like to cook. I like spending time learning how to make different dishes and share them with my friends. It allows me to experiment with different cooking techniques while applying my basic knowledge of cooking.

What have you learned that’s made a difference to you? I’ve learned that success does not equal a linear path. I came to college having an idea in mind and completely switched it up halfway through. I’ve made many changes to my path and I’m glad that I did because without that I would not have learned and experienced as much as I did and also, I wouldn’t have met the people I’ve met.

Would you rather be a master at every musical instrument or fluent in every language in the world? Master at every language that way you can travel anywhere and communicate with anyone in passing.

What’s your favorite spot on campus and why? My favorite spot on campus is the upper level of the Main Library. It is always quiet and a great place to get homework done.

What’s your favorite memory from NDSU Libraries? My favorite memory from NDSU Libraries is making relationships with different staff members.

What advice do you have for incoming students?
My biggest advice for incoming students is to do things that are outside of your comfort zone. College is a time to experience new things.

If you could have one song play every time you entered a room what would it be, and why? Any One Direction song- I’m a huge fan.
