Inventory of the articles compiled by Ward list the genre as 'memoir, seasoned with nostalgia.' Some of the topics include Minnewaukan & Graham's Island, the Ward family, the 1940s and 1950s, farming, cattle, people, and buildings. Holidays, books, sports and sin. They are written in serious, funny and sentimental tones.

Icelandic Letters Collection

Abstract Two handwritten letters in Icelandic with handwritten English translations. One letter, written in 1890, from J. Petursson, Cash City, Canada to someone in North Dakota, mentions the cold, Icelanders in Canada, and threshers from Dakota. The other letter, also dated 1890, written by Stephen G. Stephansson, Greenwater, Iceland mentions family members, deaths of friends and a sister-in-law dying in childbirth. Provenance of letters unknown.
