Located in the NDSU West Building, the NDSU Archives is a unique component of NDSU’s commitment to education, research and public service.
The NDSU Archives has two distinct archival collections, the Institute for Regional Studies Archives, which collects, preserves and makes accessible unique and rare historical materials that provide resources for the study of North Dakota and the region and the University Archives, which serves as the institutional memory of NDSU by collecting and making accessible records of enduring historical and administrative value. Together they promote the use of these materials by the NDSU community, scholars and the public towards the advancement of scholarship.
Germans From Russia Heritage Collection
Whether you seek information on your family tree or the perfect kuchen recipe, NDSU Libraries' Germans from Russia Heritage Collection is a valuable resource. Since its inception in 1978, this privately funded, specialized archive has become one of the most comprehensive collections of German-Russian resources in the world.
Shott Endowment Collection
The mission of the Shott Collection is to curate a collection of materials that allow students to explore new subjects, spark their imagination, and encourage a passion for reading.
Special Collections Finding Aids
Finding aids are a guide to the contents of a particular collection, similar to the table of contents in a book. They give background information about the collection itself and provide a detailed inventory of items within the collection. NDSU Archives and the Libraries' German from Russia Heritage Collection have compiled our finding aids in one location for ease of use for researchers.
The Federal Depository Library Program is a system of libraries dedicated to providing the public with information generated by the federal government. Regional libraries are expected to house the most comprehensive collections in a state or region. They support the other depositories in the region and insure access to government information. Non-regional collections can discard materials over five years old and are generally smaller than Regional collections.
