The book, My Admissions: The First 99 Years, by Roy Faught Jr., has been donated to the Institute for Regional Studies Archives book collection. The following comes from the back cover:
“Born in 1914, near Absaraka, ND, Roy Faught has experienced nearly a century of immense change. Roy vividly remembers the 1918 flu epidemic, driving teams of horses our in the fields of Call County, The Depression, Prohibition and World War II. During the dusty and Dirty Thirties, Roy struggled to harvest a wheat crop mere inches tall – stunted by the extreme drought. You can almost hear the loud clack of pool balls and smell the aroma of beer mingled with tobacco, as he describes his pool hall days; clamoring with excitement after the fresh repeal of Prohibition. Roy’s eyes sparkle as he remembers the sweet rhythmic beat of a local band, as they danced the night away upon a creaky hay loft floor of the barn at the farm in 1924. Roy has many memories, both good and bad; but the most memorable for him, are the people who have touched his life. The greatest memory of all, is of his wife, Dacotah, and their marriage which spanned 73 ½ years. Within the chapters of this book, are his tales of a life filled with love, friendship, hard work and dedication.”
