African American History Month

February 2020

Each year a collection of government agencies work together on the African American History Month website to pay tribute to the generations of African Americans who struggled with adversity to achieve full citizenship in American society. This single site provides many resources for educators and others including images, videos, and documents. Learn about entrepreneur and civil rights activist Maggie L. Walker, artist Josef Nassy, and listen to "Voices from the Southern Civil Rights Movement."

For more local information, Digital Horizons and the State Historical Society of North Dakota have resources on African American individuals and communities. Learn about Buffalo Soldiers like Private Carter Huse,  farmersathletes, and authors in North Dakota.
