Collection Highlight: HIV/AIDS Awareness Month

December is HIV/AIDS Awareness Month. Health organizations around the world work tirelessly to raise awareness around HIV/AIDS, commemorate those who have passed, and celebrate victories such as increased access to treatment and prevention services. NDSU Libraries has numerous information and resources on HIV/AIDS as well as many other health matters. Academic One File

CINAHL
Nurses, allied health professionals, researchers, nurse educators and students depend on the CINAHL Database to research their subject areas from this authoritative index of nursing and allied health journals.

Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition
Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition has nearly 550 scholarly full-text journals focusing on many medical disciplines. It also features abstracts and indexing for nearly 850 journals. Use this database for your scholarly or academic research.

MEDLINE
MEDLINE provides authoritative medical information on medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, pre-clinical sciences, and much more. Created by the National Library of Medicine, MEDLINE allows users to search abstracts from over 4,600 current biomedical journals.

    A health topic page from MEDLINE that includes coping skills, mental health, diet and nutrition. An excellent overview as well as information on treatment and statistics.

Points of View Reference Center
Essays presenting multiple sides of a current issue. Each essay includes an overview (objective background/description), point (argument), counterpoint (opposing argument), and Critical Thinking Guide.

Comprehensive, up-to-date information on HIV/AIDS treatment, prevention, and policy from the University of California San Francisco.

UNAIDS
Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS. Contains in-depth information by country as well as HIV data and resources in their “Knowledge Center”.

USAID
This organization's online HIV/AIDS Surveillance Data Base is an international compilation of HIV prevalence and incidence data resources from various sources for countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Oceania. The HIV/AIDS Surveillance Data Base is designed to provide users with information on HIV/AIDS and is helpful as both a reference tool and a resource for policy, research, and evaluation. This website is maintained by USAID and the U.S. Census Bureau.

World Heath Organization – HIV/AIDS
Available in multiple languages. Contains information on AIDS topics, fact sheets by country, reports and statistics and AIDS related publications and AIDS related map library.
